SEOUL, South Korea, May 02, 2023 — FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, is enhancing its inbound shipment service to better serve customers outside of Seoul and the Greater Seoul area. They can now enjoy same-day delivery[1] on flight arrivals for non-dutiable shipments[2] from Asia and Europe. The same-day delivery service on inbound shipments also applies to dutiable shipments that complete customs clearance before cut-off time[3].

More than 80% of customers in Korea, including local businesses such as SMEs and e-tailers, will be able to enjoy this service enhancement which comes during the FedEx 50th birthday celebrations on April 17. Importers and consumers in the southern region, including Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang provinces will benefit by receiving their shipments from overseas markets faster. This enhancement is the result of earlier scheduled flights from Guangzhou to Incheon combined with faster package processing capabilities at the new FedEx Incheon Gateway that came into operation in November 2022. Customers in three of the key metropolitan cities Daegu, Busan and Gwangju, as well as fashion, home appliances, and electronics businesses in the area will also benefit from the service upgrade.

“The improved service for inbound shipments is a testament of our commitment to continuously strengthen our market offerings in response to growing demand for fast and reliable delivery of packages,” said Wonbin Park, managing director, FedEx Express Korea. “With the value of overseas direct shopping exceeding KRW 6 trillion (USD 4.7 billion) in 2022 and the number of online shoppers tripling over the past five years from 5.19 million to 15.57 million in 2022[4], the same-day inbound shipment service can benefit more Korean customers who are able to receive their shipments faster.”

For over five decades, FedEx has continued to bring innovative solutions to help businesses, e-retailers, and consumers manage their deliveries with greater ease. In March, the company launched a self-collection service*[5] for inbound shipments at 7-Eleven stores throughout Korea. Customers and online shoppers can now enjoy greater convenience by having the option of picking up their FedEx packages at any one of the 12,000 7-Eleven stores of their choice at any time with no additional charge. Additionally, customers now have an added option for reliable services at an affordable price for non-urgent shipments through FedEx International Economy®.
