HO CHI MINH CITY, July 26, 2022 — FedEx Express in Vietnam and VinaCapital Foundation teamed up to refurbish the children’s wing at the Heart Institute of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam National Children’s Hospital in Hanoi providing psychological care and support for hospitalized pediatric patients including children undergoing treatment for congenital heart defects.
As part of FedEx Cares global community engagement program, FedEx volunteers dedicated more than 90 hours to transform designated hospital areas for children into play zones, adding bright and colorful wall paintings and decorations creating a more comfortable environment for pediatric patients and their families. Volunteers also interacted with the patients and their families, engaging them in games and distributing gift bags containing books and snacks.
This activity further strengthens FedEx ongoing support to VinaCapital Foundation’s efforts to increase access to quality healthcare for children and their families and empower the children to live healthier and more resilient lives. Since 2011, FedEx and VinaCapital Foundation ha
ve been driving the FedEx Delivers Heartbeat Outreach Clinic program which provides free heart screenings for children in rural areas who have little or no access to healthcare. Through these outreach clinics, more than 230,000 underprivileged children have been able to receive proper diagnosis and treatment for their conditions.
This initiative is part of the FedEx Cares 50 by 50 goal, which aims to positively impact 50 million people around the world by the company’s 50th anniversary in 2023. Learn more about FedEx Cares initiative here.
