Access to healthcare in remote areas has become more limited due to COVID-19, making the role of outreach clinics ever more vital. To maximize their impact, each clinic practices strict quality care while minimizing risks of infection by following guidelines from public health authorities.

Children diagnosed with a heart condition that requires surgery are placed on the national cardiac surgery waiting list. Arrangements are also made so that post-operative care does not include expensive and long trips to hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, or Hanoi.

“The FedEx Delivers Heartbeats program has gained even more significance for people who live in remote areas of Vietnam during the pandemic,” said Hardy Diec, managing director, FedEx Express Indochina. “Together with VinaCapital Foundation, we are proud to provide these children with more access to heart healthcare in under-served areas. That is who we are and what we do – providing access to people and possibilities. This year we will extend screening for two common diseases, hypertension and diabetes. Through early detection we believe people will be able to seek early treatment that allows them to lead healthier lives. We hope these services will give families peace of mind and enable thousands of children to grow to their full potential.”

FedEx and VCF are helping these children receive an early diagnosis and medical intervention. Thousands of children are given the chance to live healthy lives while their families are released from emotional and financial burdens. This program not only reduces child mortality but allows families a chance for a better future for their children.”
