Bangkok, Thailand, February 5, 2025 — Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has unveiled its 4,900 square meter facility in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in Laem Chabang, Chonburi. The expansion will support the growing demand of local exporters and importers in the EEC region looking to expand their international reach.

The state-of-the-art facility, nearly four times the size of the previous one, features advanced material handling and sortation technology, capable of sorting up to 3,000 packages per hour. Additionally, the adjacent 4,560 square meter warehouse supports multi-modal freight solutions including customized air, ocean, and land services in collaboration with FedEx Logistics. To cater to heavy-weight freight shippers, the facility offers a comprehensive portfolio of ancillary and value-added services including:

  • Dedicated vehicle for pick-up / delivery
  • Single wooden crating / crating
  • Fumigation service
  • Palletization (standard size per cbm), on-dock support, one-stop-shop dangerous goods service, and other special handling services

For added flexibility and convenience, FedEx has extended its shipment preparation times up to 4:00pm for export shipments from key industrial areas including Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong.

Strategically located in the heart of the EEC at the Pinthong Logistics Park, the new FedEx facility offers convenient access to key industrial areas. The location facilitates door-to-door parcel and freight pick-up and delivery service across Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong provinces.

“FedEx is committed to empowering local businesses, and this expanded Laem Chabang facility marks a significant milestone in our continuous efforts to provide greater access for customers and at the same time, support Thailand’s economic growth,” said Sasathorn Phaspinyo, managing director of FedEx Thailand. “By investing in infrastructure enhancements and service improvements, we facilitate faster, more flexible and more efficient cross-border commerce. This is the unique value we provide to customers through our unparalleled network and differentiated service offerings. This expansion allows us to meet growing demand for the next five years, while enhancing local businesses’ competitiveness in global markets.”

“The expansion of FedEx facility in Chonburi marks a significant step toward achieving Thailand’s vision of becoming ASEAN’s premier logistics hub,” said Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office. “This investment in state-of-the-art, digitally driven logistics infrastructure is designed to meet the surging demand for both domestic and international trade. It not only drives economic growth but also underscores the EEC and Thailand’s readiness to serve as a prime investment destination for key industries. We are confident that collaborating with leading logistics companies like FedEx will strengthen our logistics infrastructure and further elevate Thailand’s regional competitiveness.” Dr. Chula added.

The new facility will contribute to economic growth and development in the EEC, which accounts for 15.5% of Thailand’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)[1]. With an aim to attract 500 billion baht in new investments and boost gross provincial product by 6.3% between 2023-2027[2], Thailand’s EEC Development Plan envisions transforming the eastern region of Thailand into a hub for high-tech industries, driving investments and accelerating economic growth for the country as part of the Thailand 4.0 economic strategy. Covering the provinces of Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong, the EEC is strategically positioned to drive growth across diverse industries, including aviation, automotive, biotechnology, and smart electronics. The expanded FedEx Laem Chabang facility will support this burgeoning growth, benefiting both SMEs and multinational businesses.
