Seoul, South Korea, August 28, 2024 – Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, announced its collaboration with the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) to facilitate and enhance the efficiency of imports for Korean businesses, ensuring faster and more reliable delivery of goods from overseas markets.
Through this collaboration, FedEx and KOIMA will work closely to provide customized logistics solutions that cater to the needs of Korean importers. These solutions leverage the unmatched global network and logistics expertise of FedEx to reduce transit times, improve supply chain visibility, and reduce operational costs for Korean businesses.
Available now until June 30, 2025, FedEx is offering KOIMA members a discount of up to 80% off shipping rates. Additionally, FedEx gift vouchers valued up to KRW 80,000 will be offered to FedEx account holders[1] until the end of this year. Both the discount and vouchers are applicable to international shipping services such as FedEx International Priority® Express, FedEx International Priority®, and FedEx International Economy.
FedEx has additional plans to organize online seminars for KOIMA members to provide tips on customs clearance and how the company can support them with its differentiated logistics solutions and advanced digital tools.
“This collaboration underscores our commitment to facilitating international trade and supporting economic growth in Korea,” said Wonbin Park, managing director, FedEx Korea. “By combining our logistics expertise with the insights from KOIMA, Korean importers will have the resources and support they need to compete and win in global markets.”
Mr. Kim Byung-kwan, Chairman of KOIMA, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Working with FedEx enables us to provide our members with the tools and support necessary to succeed on an international stage. This alliance marks a significant breakthrough for Korea importers, providing them with the logistical prowess and global reach that FedEx offers.”
To support local businesses, especially small-and-medium sized enterprises in facilitating smooth delivery of their goods into Korea, FedEx has a team of dedicated customs clearance experts to help them navigate the import process — from understanding of customs clearance procedures, regulations, and restrictions to preparation of the necessary documents. FedEx customers will benefit from easier processing of their import shipments, as well as avoid complexities and unnecessary delays. In addition, FedEx recently renewed its Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification, making it the only express transportation company to maintain a class ‘AA’ level AEO accreditation in Korea, providing expedited and simplified customs procedures for both imports and exports.
KOIMA, a non-profit association under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, is dedicated to promoting balanced trade through expanding commerce, hosting import fairs, and training import experts. The association contributes to strengthening domestic industry competitiveness by supplying a wide range of goods to the domestic market, from essential raw materials to finished products and advanced materials.
