Jakarta, Indonesia, 3 November, 2025 — Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has enhanced its dangerous goods (DG) shipping capabilities in Indonesia. Effective October 1, 2025, customers in Greater Jakarta and Batam can now ship all classes of DG - except Class 1 (Explosives) and Class 7 (Radioactive) - compared to only Class 9 previously.
Amid Indonesia’s growing exports and the expansion of EV battery and pharmaceutical manufacturing, demand for compliant DG logistics is rising within a logistics sector projected to be worth USD 130 billion in 2025, according to Mordor Intelligence.
This enhancement enables businesses in Greater Jakarta and Batam to ship sensitive goods such as chemicals, medical equipment, industrial supplies, and lithium batteries safely and efficiently via FedEx International Priority® services, which offer time-definite delivery worldwide within 1 to 2 business days.
“Our enhanced dangerous goods shipping services highlight the company’s proven track record and specialized expertise in navigating complex regulatory and safety requirements worldwide,” said Garrick Thompson, Managing Director of FedEx Indonesia. “We’re enabling Indonesian companies to expand globally by ensuring their sensitive shipments are handled with exceptional care in line with the highest international standards.”
Dangerous goods are items or substances that may pose health, safety, or environmental risks if not handled properly. FedEx helps ensure these shipments are safely managed, fully compliant with international safety regulations, and closely monitored throughout transit for secure and timely delivery.
This enhancement builds on the company’s continued investments to strengthen its network in Indonesia. In November 2024, FedEx improved its inbound shipping services for customers importing into Jakarta, enabling faster delivery by one business day for shipments arriving from Asia, Europe, and the United States on weekdays. In October 2024, FedEx also launched a new gateway facility in Denpasar, improving connectivity, customs clearance, and reliability for businesses in Bali.
This year, FedEx marks 40 years of operations in Indonesia, reaffirming its commitment to empowering local businesses through trusted logistics expertise, strategic investments, and a global network connecting them to more than 220 countries and territories.
