FedEx delivers 1,800kg clothes to victims of Hurricane Katrina

Oude Meer, Netherlands - October 14, 2005 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, announced today they are providing shipping for 1,800kg of clothing collected by the U.S. Army, NATO, Allied Forces North Battalion in the Netherlands to send to Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, for distribution to Louisiana families displaced by Hurricane Katrina.


The U.S. Army, supporting Allied Joint Forces Command Brunssum will transport the goods to the FedEx facility in Melsbroek , Belgium , from where it will then be shipped via its CDG hub in France directly to the United States .


“FedEx’s generous offer to provide transportation gives Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen from 26 different NATO nations the opportunity to donate much needed supplies to those whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Katrina,” said Captain Ernest Tornabell IV, U.S. Army, Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort Coordinator stationed with NATO at JFC Brunssum, the Netherlands. “Because of their cooperation, displaced families from Louisiana will be able to have warm clothing, blankets, sheets, pillows and other items for the coming months, as they rebuild their lives.”
