MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 2005--For the eighth consecutive year, FedEx has been ranked among “The 100 Best Companies to Work For” in America by FORTUNE Magazine. FORTUNE also has inducted FedEx into its “Hall of Fame"a distinction shared by only 21 other companies that have been featured on the list since its inception.
“We are delighted to be consistently ranked among the 100 Best Companies to work for in America. It is a testament to our employees,” said Frederick W. Smith, chairman, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Corporation. “Considering that FedEx has the largest number of employees of any company on this list with more than 198,000 in the United States, this recognition is a strong validation of our commitment to creating workplace environments that inspire our employees.”
Since Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz began surveying U.S. employees in the 1980s, FedEx has consistently been voted one of the best companies to work for in America.
Today, two-thirds of the Company’s score is based on the anonymous responses of its employees. In addition to these surveys, FORTUNE and the Great Place to Work Institute also make their selections based on an evaluation of a company’s policies and culture, demographic make-up, compensation and benefits. According to the publication, companies are scored according to the following criteria:
Credibility (which includes communications with employees)
Respect (which includes opportunities and benefits)
Fairness (which includes compensation and diversity)
Pride/Camaraderie (which includes philanthropy and celebrations)
FORTUNE will publish its list of the “100 Companies to Work For” in its January 24, 2005 issue, available on newsstands on January 17 and at www.fortune.com this week. In addition to appearing for eight consecutive years on FORTUNE’S “100 Best” list, the company has also been listed in the top ten of the publication’s “Global Most Admired Companies” since 2002 and “America’s Most Admired Companies” lists since 2001.
