MEMPHIS, Tenn., Nov. 3, 2022 – FedEx Freight, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and a leader in less-than-truckload (LTL) services, has expanded its FedEx Freight Direct e-commerce solution for delivering bulky items to-or-through the door of residences and businesses. FedEx Freight Direct now covers nearly 100% of the U.S. population for basic and basic by appointment and 90% of the contiguous U.S. population for standard and premium, offering flexible delivery windows, order visibility, and proactive notifications for e-commerce recipients.

FedEx Freight Direct leverages the trust and expertise of the FedEx brand, integrating customer-driven design and using an innovative technology platform.

Deliveries are made by FedEx Freight using company-branded equipment and uniformed team members in most markets. FedEx Freight invested in technology that provides customers with greater visibility for each of their shipments, close to real-time estimates for scheduling and delivery status, and flexible two-hour delivery windows. Recipients can opt into SMS text messaging or receive email notifications. The company’s technology also optimizes route design for drivers by using artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor distance between stops, appointment windows, driver availability, and traffic patterns.

“FedEx Freight Direct has revolutionized how we think about pick up through delivery in the LTL industry,” said Bonnie Voldeng, vice president FedEx Freight Direct. “We designed FedEx Freight Direct to take freight delivery that extra step when needed—moving big items such as furniture, televisions and exercise equipment direct to the door. We also created an additional service that takes items through the door to where recipients want them.”

FedEx Freight Direct offers simplified pricing and four delivery service levels:

· Basic: Delivery to the ground-level front or back door, or to the garage; no signature required and photo capture

· Basic by Appointment: Delivery to the ground-level front or back door, or to the garage with an appointment and photo capture

· Standard: Through-the-door delivery to the first ground-level room in a home or business

· Premium: A two-person team delivers through-the-door to any room of choice or placement of choice to an outdoor patio, with the option for packaging removal

“The additional visibility and control we’re giving customers with FedEx Freight Direct is a clear example of the value we’re adding to our customer experience,” Voldeng said.
