Eleven FedEx Drivers Earn Honors at the Kentucky State Truck Driving Championship

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><st1:city w:st="on">MEMPHIS</st1:city> &ndash; May 19, 2008 &ndash;</strong> Eleven drivers representing FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) operating companies placed among the winners at the 2008 Kentucky State Truck Driving Championship in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Louisville</st1:city></st1:place> on May 16-17.</p>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">Harold Clemons, a contractor for FedEx Ground based in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Independence</st1:place></st1:city>, captured the top spot in the Tank Truck class. He also won the coveted Grand Champion title for achieving the highest score among the winners of each class.<o:p></o:p></li>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">Wayne Crowder, the 2004 National Truck Driving Championships Grand Champion, captured first place in the Flatbed class. A driver for FedEx Freight domiciled in <st1:city w:st="on">Louisville</st1:city>, Crowder is currently a captain on the American Trucking Associations&rsquo; <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">America</st1:place></st1:country-region>&rsquo;s Road Team.<o:p></o:p></li>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">John Willinger, a driver for FedEx Freight based in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Louisville</st1:place></st1:city>, won the 5-Axle class to earn his fifth state title in seven years.<o:p></o:p></li>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">Louisville-based FedEx Freight driver John Higgs earned the state title in the 4-Axle class.<o:p></o:p></li>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">Three other FedEx Freight drivers domiciled in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Louisville</st1:place></st1:city> posted second-place finishes: Rickie Livingston, Straight Truck class; David Proctor, 3-Axle class; and Brad Mertz, Tank Truck class. <o:p></o:p></li>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">Doug Adams, a driver for FedEx Express in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Hebron</st1:place></st1:city>, placed third in the 5-Axle class.<o:p></o:p></li>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">Bowling Green-based FedEx Freight drivers Lonnie Embry and Martin Flannery finished third in the 4-Axle and 5-Axle Sleeper classes, respectively.<o:p></o:p></li>

<li style="" class="MsoNormal">David Campbell, a Corbin-based FedEx Freight driver, was third in the Twins class.<o:p></o:p></li>

<p class="MsoNormal">In addition, FedEx Freight finished second in the team competition.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Clemons, Crowder, Willinger and Higgs will go on to compete at the American Trucking Associations&rsquo; 2008 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC), known as the &ldquo;Super Bowl of Safety&rdquo; August 20-23 in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Houston</st1:place></st1:city>. In addition, each state winner will be recognized by FedEx as part of its safe driving initiative, The Chairman&rsquo;s Challenge.<span style="">&nbsp; </span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Kentucky State Truck Driving Championship is an opportunity for professional truck drivers to demonstrate their driving skills and commitment to safety. The event includes a difficult driving skill test, pre-trip inspection, personal interview and written examination covering vehicle operation and knowledge of federal safety regulations. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">In 2007, a record 78 driving professionals from 38 states representing FedEx Freight, FedEx Ground, FedEx Express, FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Global Supply Chain Services qualified to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships by winning their respective state’s competition and driving accident-free for at least one year. FedEx drivers captured National Champion titles in the Flatbed and Straight Truck classes and the NTDC Rookie of the Year honor. In addition, FedEx drivers earned five additional top-three finishes in their respective vehicle classes.<o:p></o:p></p>
