BANGKOK, May 17, 2017 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, together with Junior Achievement (JA), announced the three winning teams of the FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC) Thailand Competition 2017. These winners will represent Thailand in the FedEx/JA ITC Regional Competition in Singapore on August 21-23, 2017.

The three teams were selected from eight shortlisted teams that presented their business ideas about a market entry strategy for a healthcare product for the Indonesian market to a panel of judges on May 13, 2017. The winners were chosen based on their business strategies, creativity, and presentation skills.

The three winning teams are:

  • Nathanich Chantharojwong and Phanicha Pichetvarangkul from Sarasas Ektra School proposed SmoNo Kid’s, an anti-tobacco toothpaste that reduces nicotine cravings.
  • Pantach Anantapong and Maylin Wongarupun from Satit Kasetsart International Program proposed BUNGA BAKUNG, a filtering device using a candle ceramic filter that provides clean water and health benefits with garlic supplements.
  • Punyada Amelia Seraypheap and Hathaitanit Tongthong from Satit Chulalongkorn Demonstration Secondary School proposed FitRest, a rehabilitation frame that fits easily around a twin bed or a mattress to help people who are on bed rest and cannot afford to go to physical therapy.

“The students impressed the judges with their creativity and well thought out business plans,” said David Carden, managing director, FedEx Express, Thailand and Indochina. “We want to congratulate the three finalists and wish them luck in Singapore. We look forward to seeing these future entrepreneurs apply the knowledge they have gained through the International Trade Challenge to start businesses in Thailand.”

The FedEx/JA ITC program aims to educate and inspire young people aged between 15-19 years old across Asia Pacific with entrepreneurship from a global perspective. Now in its eighth year in Thailand, the program has provided the opportunity for 980 students from across the country to learn about global trade practices.
