Secretary LaHood and Congressman Cohen Tour FedEx Express World Hub

MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 13, 2012 -- Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and US Congressman Steve Cohen traveled to Memphis this week to visit the FedEx Express World Hub, the largest facility in the FedEx Express network, and meet with FedEx leaders including FedEx Express President and CEO David Bronczek.

“We are honored that Secretary LaHood and Congressman Cohen toured our hub,” said Bronczek. “We were excited to share some of the innovations and teamwork that allow us to connect 220 countries and territories with the Secretary and the Congressman.”

The Memphis World Hub contains more than 40 miles of conveyer belts, and sorts an average of 1.5 million packages each day. Our team members who work there load and unload more than 10,000 FedEx flights each month.

During the visit, Secretary LaHood and Congressman Cohen also experienced a brief training session on a FedEx flight simulator, trying their hands at simulated take-offs and landings of a Boeing 777F at DCA, the local Washington, DC, airport.
