FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) released its annual Global Economic Impact Report, highlighting the reach of its network and its role in driving innovation during fiscal year 2025 (FY25). Developed in collaboration with Dun & Bradstreet (NYSE: DNB), a leading global provider of business decisioning data and analytics, the report demonstrates the positive impact FedEx has on people, businesses and communities around the world, a phenomenon known as the “FedEx Effect.”
“For more than 50 years, FedEx has powered global commerce through innovative logistics services that connect communities around the world,” said Raj Subramaniam, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Corporation. “Our culture of innovation, combined with our team’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional service and bold ideas, has enabled the FedEx network to continue driving progress around the world, even amid a volatile trade environment and a period of significant transformation for supply chains.”
The report found that FedEx contributed an estimated $126 billion in direct and indirect impact to the global economy in FY25. This activity reflects the scale of the FedEx network and the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its services and optimize operations during its first fiscal year operating as one organization.
Impact Across LAC
FedEx employs more than 20,000 team members across more than 50 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The FedEx strategic air gateway at Miami International Airport serves as the company’s primary logistics hub for trade between the region and the rest of the world. It is also home to the largest temperature-controlled facility in the company’s global network, designed to meet growing demand for the transportation of perishables, including flowers and food, as well as medical and pharmaceutical products.
“The report reflects the significant role FedEx plays in advancing economic development at both the global and local levels. In Chile, we celebrated the first anniversary of our direct flight from Miami to the South Cone and Ecuador, an operation that has supported import and export growth along the route connecting Chile, Argentina and Ecuador with more than 220 countries and territories served by FedEx. This milestone expands opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses across the region to grow and compete,” said Humberto Lira, vice president of operations for FedEx in South America.
In FY25, FedEx directly contributed an estimated 0.7% of net economic output in the transportation, storage and communications sector across Latin America and the Caribbean. The company also contributed approximately $1.1 billion indirectly to the regional economy, including $275 million to the transportation, storage and communications sector and $246 million to manufacturing. Combined, FedEx direct and indirect contributions to the LAC economy totaled approximately $5 billion.
FedEx spent $743 million with suppliers across the region in calendar year 2024 (CY24), with 60% of that spending going to small businesses. Across LAC, 89% of FedEx suppliers are small businesses, underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting local entrepreneurship and strengthening supply chain resilience.
