Federal Express Corporation, the world’s largest express transportation company, announces the launch of a new flight connecting Miami, Guatemala and Honduras. This new route offers a daily cargo capacity of up to 52,000 pounds and enhanced connectivity for Central American businesses when importing and exporting to the United States and the rest of the world.
The flight, operated by a FedEx Boeing 757 aircraft with a frequency of five days a week, begins its route at the Miami International Airport, heads to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and completes its itinerary at Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, before returning to Miami. With this, FedEx establishes direct presence in Honduras for the first time.
“This new flight reaffirms the commitment and support of FedEx with Central America and its economic growth,” said Basil Khalil, Vice President of FedEx Operations for Central America and the Caribbean. “Enhancing our presence and services in Honduras enables us to be closer to our customers and deliver greater support for their international shipping needs.”
With the new flight and a dedicated FedEx team in the country, the company is reaching key Honduran industries gaining traction in the international market, including the automotive, coffee, and textile sectors. Another priority sector is Nostalgic Goods. A February 2024 trade report from the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH) revealed that the export of items such as soft drinks, snacks (churros), doughnuts, dairy products, and refried beans reached 29.8 million dollars in 2023.
FedEx has been facilitating trade in Honduras since 1997, offering international shipping solutions through the global service participant, Agencia Naviera Guticia, which will continue to support with several services including pickup and delivery operations.
