FedEx announced today a strategic expansion of its logistics operations, deploying a Boeing 767 freighter on its Miami – Guatemala City-San Pedro Sula-Miami route. This larger aircraft, which is replacing the legacy Boeing 757, will boost direct connectivity and capacity while driving operational efficiency.
Since the route’s initial launch in September 2024, when the company established its direct presence in Honduras, customer’s demand has steadily grown. To meet this demand, the introduction of this larger aircraft doubles the route’s daily cargo capacity to more than 100,000 pounds, significantly expanding capabilities for heavy-weight freight. This enhanced connectivity is especially significant for the Honduran economy, as the United States remains the country’s leading trading partner.
“Our core mission is to drive premium revenue and operating income growth, while empowering Honduran businesses to succeed and flourish,” said Basil Khalil, vice president of operations at FedEx Caribbean and Central America. “By upgrading to the Boeing 767, we are focused on providing reliable and efficient logistics solutions that enable these businesses to access international markets, compete globally, and help drive trade across the region.”
Additionally, FedEx has expanded its presence in Honduras with the opening of its first two FedEx Ship centers, one in Tegucigalpa, located at Nova Plaza Kennedy-Francisco Morazan, and another in San Pedro Sula, located at Plaza Satelite 1 Calle.
