Federal Express Corporation, the world’s largest express transportation company, announces the launch of a new flight connecting Miami, Guatemala, and Honduras. This new flight provides an additional daily cargo capacity of up to 52,000 pounds, and better connectivity for Central American businesses when importing and exporting to the United States and globally.
The route, operated by a FedEx Boeing 757 aircraft with five weekly flight frequencies, begins at Miami International Airport, travels to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, and completes its itinerary at Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, before returning to Miami.
“The addition of this new flight is a proactive decision to address the demand in the region and deepen cooperation with the local market,” said Basil Khalil, Vice President of Operations for FedEx in the Caribbean and Central America. “During the last 24 years of our presence in Guatemala, FedEx has committed to growing with the market. We continuously work on our local network to ensure a flexible, efficient, and intelligent operation that allows our customers to grow and meet their import and export needs.”
With this announcement, the company strengthens its collaboration with key industries in Guatemala, such as the coffee and the textile industries, both included as top exports in the study “Best Markets, Products & Services” by the Guatemalan Exporters Association (AGEXPORT), as well as the Nostalgic Good sector. The Ornamental Plants, Foliage, and Flowers is another sector with great potential that could benefit from a greater exporting capacity. According to reports from AGEXPORT, the sector ended 2023 with exports valued at over 116 million dollars and positive growth prospects for 2024.
