Miami, November 16, 2021 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, announced that Juan N. Cento, Regional President for FedEx Express Latin America and the Caribbean, is retiring after 32 years of service. Luiz Vasconcelos, Vice President of Operations for FedEx Express in Brazil, has been appointed to fill the role, effective January 1, 2022.
“I want to thank the entire FedEx Express Latin America and the Caribbean team who has been on this journey with me for the past three decades. It has truly been an honor,” said Cento. “I am extremely grateful to have played a role in the growth and expansion of our international business in the region. I am also proud of our tremendous achievements and our commitment to the communities in which we operate. I am excited to welcome Luiz Vasconcelos to the role and am confident that he will continue to take our business to new heights.”
Throughout his three-decade-long career at FedEx Express, Cento played a crucial role in establishing a leadership strategy to ensure the continuous success of the business and its exponential growth in the region. He introduced new services including FedEx Express direct international service in numerous countries in South and Central America in the early 1990s and launched domestic service in Colombia. Additionally, he helped connect Latin America and the Caribbean to the world through several business acquisitions, such as Multipak in Mexico, Rapidão Cometa in Brazil, and the global acquisition of TNT. A forward-thinker, Cento has led the company to leverage opportunities that helped expand the FedEx Express footprint with a diverse portfolio of solutions - most recently in the fast-growing e-commerce and international freight services sectors - to better support customers, both large and small. Outside his corporate responsibilities, Cento has been an active member of his community. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Assurant Inc.
Vasconcelos has been the Vice President of Operations for FedEx Express in Brazil since 2018. In this role, he leads the company’s operation in the market, overseeing logistics, ground, air, domestic and international transportation services. He first joined FedEx in 2012 as the Finance Managing Director for Brazil and the South Cone. During his tenure, he has been recognized for his contributions to the business’s growth and collaborative culture.
