FedEx Donates Aid Supply Flight to Tabasco Flood Victims


Mexico City , November 9, 2007 - FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation and global logistics solutions provider, in association with the Mexican Red Cross and Fundación Azteca, are providing humanitarian aid to the flood victims in the state of Tabasco .

To support the residents displaced by recent flooding in Tabasco, the Mexican Red Cross and Fundación Azteca sent 60 tons and eight tons of aid respectively, which will be donated directly in Villahermosa, Tabasco, to the state’s Red Cross and Episcopal Committee for the Social Concerns Ministries (CEPS, by its Spanish acronym) – Cáritas Tabasco for distribution among the flood victims.

The aid was transported free of charge by FedEx Express using a MD10-30 from its Express fleet. The flight left Toluca ’s Airport in the state of Mexico this morning.

The FedEx commitment to social betterment includes its collaboration with the Orbis ‘flying hospital,’ offering its pilots and maintenance personnel to fly specially equipped aircraft fitted with eye surgery equipment. The program has helped thousands of people in Latin America and the rest of the world to improve or recuperate their eyesight. FedEx also collaborates with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, providing an airplane, pilots and volunteers to donate hearing aid equipment to residents of Colombia and the Dominican Republic .
