More than 400 winter coats were distributed to students in the municipalities of Tomé and Lirquén, in Chile’s Biobío Region, through a joint initiative led by FedEx, Desafío Levantemos Chile and, the U.S.-based nonprofit Operation Warm. The donation benefited children attending Punta de Parra and Ríos de Chile schools, which were affected by the wildfires that impacted the area during the first months of 2026.

In addition, the campaign includes the donation of new sneakers and socks to students at Javiera Carrera School in Antofagasta, further expanding the reach of this initiative to support other communities facing significant challenges and needs.

This initiative is part of the ongoing collaboration between FedEx and Desafío Levantemos Chile, established through a partnership agreement signed in 2023 to support communities affected by emergencies through social assistance and logistics expertise. Together, the organizations have helped mobilize humanitarian aid across the country, contributing to the recovery of families and schools by transporting critical shipments and donations where they are needed most.

“At FedEx, we put our logistics network, the largest in Chile, reaching more than 400 cities across the country, to work in creating a positive impact beyond transportation. We are proud that volunteers from our FedEx Cares community engagement program are once again joining forces with Desafío Levantemos Chile to provide students with new, warm winter coats, helping them navigate the winter season with greater comfort and support,” said Matías Reguera, Operations Director for FedEx Chile.

Nicolás Canales, Operations Director at Desafío Levantemos Chile, emphasized that initiatives like this help provide tangible support to students who have had to navigate difficult circumstances stemming from the emergencies that affected their communities over the past year.

“We arrived in Punta de Parra while the fire was still burning and made a commitment that we would not leave the community behind. In March, we inaugurated this school, and today we are seeing children return to their routines. This progress has undoubtedly been made possible through strong public-private collaboration, as well as the dedication and engagement of civil society. We are deeply grateful to see leading companies continue supporting the communities that need it most, as this commitment is vital to the future of these students,” added the Operations Director.

Since 2008, FedEx and Operation Warm, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that provides high-quality coats and footwear to children in need, have partnered through the FedEx Cares global community engagement program. By combining the dedication and expertise of FedEx team members with the resources of nonprofit organizations, the program helps address the needs of local communities, amplifying its impact and contributing to improved quality of life.
