Students at Javiera Carrera School received 450 pairs of new shoes and socks this winter as FedEx, Operation Warm, and Desafío Levantemos Chile expanded their work in Chile to include footwear support for the first time.
The footwear distribution marks the fifth consecutive year FedEx has worked with Operation Warm in Chile, with Desafío Levantemos Chile serving as the local implementation NGO since 2023. This year, the collaboration provided more than 400 new coats to students at schools affected by the wildfires that struck Tomé and Lirquén in Chile’s Biobío Region earlier in 2026. It also expanded its reach by delivering, for the first time in Chile, 450 pairs of new shoes for children with the greatest need.
Matías Reguera, FedEx operations managing director for Chile, said the company aims to leverage its extensive logistics network, which serves more than 400 cities across the country, to create a positive impact in the communities where it operates. “We are proud that volunteers from our FedEx Cares community engagement program are collaborating with Desafío Levantemos Chile to distribute shoes and coats that will help students face the winter in better conditions,” he said.
Nicolás Canales, operations director at Desafío Levantemos Chile, highlighted the value of public-private collaboration in delivering meaningful support to students who have faced challenging circumstances. “We are deeply grateful to see leading companies continue stepping forward to support those who need it most. This commitment is essential to helping build a brighter future for these students,” he said.
Since 2008, FedEx and Operation Warm, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that manufactures high-quality clothing essentials for children in need, have been working together through the global FedEx Cares community engagement program, connecting the passion and expertise of FedEx team members with the resources of nonprofit organizations to address the needs of local communities and help improve quality of life.
