Volunteer activities take place across Japan and around the world

TOKYO, December 6, 2016 – As part of the FedEx Cares Fall Campaign, 74 FedEx Express (FedEx) volunteers in Japan gave back to the community through a variety of local community causes from October 8 to November 25.

As a customary part of the preparations for FedEx Cares in Japan, employees shared ideas about how to make a difference in their community. Gathering ideas from employees with a thorough knowledge of the local area allows FedEx to tailor activities according to the social needs of each community. This year, the FedEx Japan team implemented projects such as cleaning roadsides and parks and assisting overseas visitors. (See below for details of the volunteer programs in Japan.)

“FedEx Cares embodies the values of our company,” said Masamichi Ujiie, regional vice president, North Pacific, FedEx Express. “The campaign is a great opportunity for us to display our spirit of volunteerism and contribute to the community. Each year our employees submit excellent volunteer proposals that demonstrate their desire to help our local communities. As a team we support these efforts to improve the communities where we live and work.”

FedEx Cares activities have a strong community and sustainability focus. Globally, more than 15,000 FedEx team members are expected to volunteer during the FedEx Cares Fall Campaign, amounting to 60,000 hours of work performed.

FedEx Corp. began this tradition in a handful of U.S. cities in 2004 and has since expanded to nearly 200 cities and 120 countries around the world.
