LONDON, Monday 09 January 2017—Volunteers from FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company and a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), dedicated 1,000 hours to charity and fundraising activities for Action for Children over the course of 2016.

As part of FedEx Cares, the company’s global volunteer programme, more than 160 team members from the FedEx Express UK Sales teams gave their time to support the UK’s most disadvantaged children and adults. With activities including painting, cleaning and gardening, team members rolled up their sleeves to brighten up and transform Action for Children facilities in Newcastle, Bristol, Worcester, Liverpool and Cambridge. A member of one of the Sales teams even became an independent visitor for Action for Children in the UK, mentoring disadvantaged young children.

“We are proud and inspired by the team who have given up so much of their own time to support such a worthwhile cause. We’re incredibly pleased to have reached our 1,000 hours target and we look forward to delivering hope to many more children and adults in 2017,” said Neil Parlett, senior account executive at FedEx Express.

In addition, team members fundraised a total of £6,259 for the charity through a series of activities, including completing the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, cycling all the way from Brussels to Amsterdam, completing the Worksop Halloween Half Marathon and ‘sleeping rough’ for a night as part of ‘Byte Night’, the national sleep-out event.

FedEx has been supporting Action for Children since 2010. These volunteer efforts are part of the company’s wider commitment to improving communities through FedEx Cares. The company’s global giving platform through which FedEx will invest US$200 million in more than 200 global communities by 2020 to create opportunities and deliver positive change around the world. Local volunteers supplement and enrich these community investments. For more information, visit fedexcares.com.
