FedEx takes Miami Beach Polo World Cup title sponsorship, April 12 to 15

MIAMI , February 27, 2007 – FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation and global logistic solution provider, will be the Miami Beach Polo World Cup’s title sponsor for 2007. The FedEx Miami Beach Polo World Cup will be held on Miami Beach from April 12 to April 15, bringing together six top-ranked international teams from six countries, and will play host to upwards of 4,000 attendees.

The FedEx Miami Beach Polo World Cup will be held on the sands stretching beneath the prestigious The Setai oceanfront resort, between 20th and 22nd Street on Miami Beach . Throughout nine matches held over the course of three days, six international teams of three players each will be vying for the Cup.

“We are very excited about sponsoring the Miami Beach Polo World Cup,” said Guilherme Gatti, Managing Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications for Latin America and the Caribbean . “Polo’s hallmarks are tradition and prestige, but it’s also about precision, strategy, team play and flawless execution, all fundamental pillars of FedEx operations. It’s a natural fit.”

In addition to backing one of the competing teams, FedEx will be presenting two trophies at the tournament, rewarding the Cup’s “Most Valuable Player” and “Most Valuable Horse”.

“The Miami Beach Polo World Cup is one of the highlights of Miami’s sporting and cultural life, combining the graceful spectacle of some of the world’s best polo with exclusive events for the tournament’s guests and attendees,” said Reto Gaudenzi, Vice President of The Polo Life. “We’re delighted to have FedEx come on board as this year’s main sponsor, and are thrilled about what this year’s Cup will have to offer, both on and off the field.”

The FedEx Miami Beach Polo World Cup 2007 is also an opportunity for FedEx to work closely with one of its top customers: La Martina. The renowned Argentine company is responsible for some of the world’s highest quality polo apparel, equipment and accessories, with products tailored for use both on and off the field.

As official suppliers of both the Argentine Polo Association and Federation of International Polo, La Martina holds intimate ties with the world’s top clubs, federations and players. This year, FedEx Express will set the stage for La Martina to show off its newest designs at the Cup on Saturday evening, April 14, treating tournament-goers to an exclusive and premier fashion show.

“At La Martina, we approach our business the same way a polo player approaches the challenge of playing polo: with passion, devotion and an utmost commitment to excellence,” said Adrian Simonetti, La Martina Director. “FedEx has always understood this, and we’re delighted to be able to work with them to showcase our designs on the night before the big Finals match.”

The FedEx Miami Beach World Cup 2007 matches begin on April 13. The tournament’s Finals match and closing activities will be held on Sunday, April 15.
