SUZHOU , March 24, 2011 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has announced the opening of its new station in Suzhou , a key economic city in Jiangsu Province . Conveniently located in the Suzhou New District, the FedEx facility marks the third station in this booming city and will meet the growing customer demand.
Occupying an area of 2,230 square meters in the Suzhou High Technology Zone, the station handles the pick-up and delivery of international express shipments for customers in the New District, Wuzhong District and part of downtown Suzhou .
The new station consists of the office and warehouse, including an advanced inbound and outbound sorting system, which can sort up to 3,000 shipments per hour. All packages are connected to the FedEx global network, which includes more than 220 countries and territories, through the nearby FedEx express gateway at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport .

Suzhou ’s imports and exports totaled more than $1 trillion during China ’s 11th Five-year Plan (2006 to 2010), almost triple the amount during China ’s 10th Five-year Plan. In 2010 alone, Suzhou ’s exports and imports rose 36.1% to $274.08 billion.[1]
To support Suzhou ’s robust foreign trade, FedEx has been continuously enhancing its services to support the city’s remarkable volume growth and demand for reliable, fast delivery service. For example, FedEx introduced its fist Boeing 777 Freighter to Shanghai in January 2010, providing customers in Suzhou and key cities in east China with a two-hour improvement in cut-off times for their U.S.-bound shipments. As of 31 August 2010, the customers in Suzhou began to enjoy later cut-off times for all FedEx international low-value shipments destined for Europe . The two-hour improvements for U.S.- and Europe-bound shipments have provided customers in Suzhou with more time and greater flexibility in meeting their growing business demands.
FedEx established its Suzhou branch in 2003. Currently, FedEx has two international express operation stations and one domestic service operation station in Suzhou .
