BEIJING, April 1, 2010— FedEx China put a smile on the face of many customers last weekend when mystery guests—members of the China Badminton Team (CBT)—took calls and delivered packages.
The China Badminton Team players spent a weekend learning firsthand what WeLivetoDeliver means. Starting on Friday, March 26 CBT players Zhao Yunlei and Wang XiaoLi took customer calls at the FedEx Wuhan Shared Services Center.
“This is a brand-new experience for me. Both at work and on the court, the spirit is the same – we respond quickly, overcome challenges and, just like FedEx, we live to deliver,” said CBT player Zhao Yunlei.
When customers learned a CBT member was assisting them, they were delighted at the surprise and offered best wishes for the team in 2010. The CBT members did an excellent job fielding customer questions and making sure that each customer received the needed information or follow up.
The weekend continued with a lucky draw dinner for customers, fans and employees in Beijing on Saturday night. Winners from Hangzhou, Fujian, Foshan and Dongguan gathered to enjoy a meal with CBT players.
“Winning was an unexpected surprise. I feel very fortunate to meet with CBT members and wish them all the best,” said Wu JinLan from Foshan.
The evening was filled with lively conversation ranging from secret badminton tips to favorite foods. “I was very happy to have dinner with fans. I learned a lot, Events like this help us get closer to our fans,” said CBT player Bao ChunLai.
The mystery weekend finished on Monday with CBT players Wang Xin and He HanBing delivering packages to lucky draw winners in Beijing’s Chaoyang district.
All morning customers did a double-take upon seeing CBT players delivering their packages.
“It was great to see fans and deliver packages. I had a new experience and learned some things that can’t be learned on the court,” said He HanBaing. “I now know how important it is to be diligent and responsible when handling every single package. I really treasure the smile on people’s faces when you deliver a package,” added Wang Xin.
