FedEx Recognized for its Culture of Safety Above All

SEOUL, July 14, 2014 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, placed 2nd for the 2014 Best Practice Award for Safety and Health Management in the Service Sector hosted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) under the Ministry of Employment and Labor. FedEx was the only logistics company among the final six laureates to showcase its excellent safety management case at the award ceremony on July 7.

The award is designed to promote corporate safety and health management in manufacturing, construction and service industries in Korea by sharing exemplary business cases. The judging panel, comprised of industry experts, shortlisted the finalists by screening submissions from candidates and carrying out on-site inspections.

In the spirit of always putting safety above all, FedEx Express Korea was highly recognized for the excellence of its safety oriented work practices including seven phases of daily operation, safety and health programs, risk evaluation, human resource management, employee reward programs for best safety practices, and diverse educational programs. With active implementation of these safety and health programs, FedEx Express Korea has dramatically reduced its Injury Incident Rate (IIR) and Vehicle Incident Rate (VIR) by more than 40 percent during FY14, compared to the year earlier.

“At FedEx, safety and health principles are strategically incorporated into all aspects of our business. The award reaffirms our corporate culture of placing safety above all,” said Eun-Mi Chae, managing director of FedEx Express Korea. “FedEx will continue to improve its practices and procedures to make the workplace even safer in order to provide better service and value to customers.”
