FedEx on Reinventing the Transatlantic Alliance

As part of the ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of D-Day, FedEx was proud to join European and American business leaders at the Freedom and Solidarity Summit in Caen, France. David Binks, FedEx Express president of EMEA, addressed the attending international students as well as business and political leaders, stressing a ‘common commitment to sustained economic growth, as well as our enduring commitments to freedom and democracy.”

Binks stressed the critical importance on both sides of the Atlantic to passing TTIP – the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership – now in negotiation. “This is a once in a generation opportunity that we must seize. The US and EU must grasp this chance to deepen transatlantic economic integration and shape the global rules-based system to reflect our shared values and principles.”

Removing regulatory barriers to trade is essential to improving domestic economic growth, job opportunities and improving global economic competitiveness for America and Europe. In reflecting the past, as a way to reinvent the future, Binks said: “We can make that vision a reality if we resist protectionism, and continue to work together toward a vibrant framework for cooperation in the future.
