DALLAS, November 19, 2012—Superstorm Sandy and its aftermath deeply affected communities across the northeastern seaboard, and community food banks are working overtime to assist those in need of help today and for weeks to come. FedEx Office® is extending its support for these valuable community organizations through the first-ever Pack, Ship & Give program.

From November 26 through December 2, 2012, for each Pack & Ship transaction, FedEx Office will donate $1 to the Food Bank For New York City and Community FoodBank of New Jersey, up to $50,000. Each dollar donated will provide five warm meals through the Food Bank For New York City or $10 worth of groceries through the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Together, these food banks distribute 39 million pounds of food and groceries, and serve 146 million meals each year.

“FedEx has been working since immediately following the storm to transport desperately needed relief supplies through the disaster response and community nonprofits where we have existing relationships,” said Brian Philips, president and CEO of FedEx Office. “We have been supporting the Food Bank For New York and Community FoodBank of New Jersey for years, and, with the help of our customers, FedEx is eager to provide these organizations with additional aid when the demand for their services remains so high.”

FedEx team members have been lending a hand to help storm victims throughout the region over the past two weeks. On Wednesday, November 14th, New Jersey-based FedEx team members brought much needed post-Sandy support to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, by delivering a truckload of donated food and a $20,000 monetary donation. Denny Hamlin, driver of the #11 FedEx Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and crew members from his Joe Gibbs Racing team joined the FedEx volunteers to assist the nonprofit in preparing the food to serve the community.

The donation program announced today is in addition to the $1.5 million in cash and in-kind transportation FedEx has already provided in support Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts across the northeast corridor of the United States. In the two weeks following the storm, FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight and FedEx Custom Critical networks have transported more than three million pounds of disaster relief supplies, with additional support continuing in response to the ongoing needs of national non-profit relief organizations.
