MEMPHIS, Tenn., January 29, 2018—FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) announced today that it has been selected by the editors of Black Enterprise for inclusion on its annual Best Companies for Diversity List. This list is the publication’s exclusive roster of major corporations that have demonstrated best practices through its diverse representation within its employee base, senior management ranks, corporate boards and supplier pools.

“As a global company serving millions of customers in more than 220 countries and territories, we pride ourselves on being as diverse as the world we serve,” said Shannon A. Brown, senior vice president and chief Human Resources and Diversity officer of FedEx Express. “We work with our more than 400,000 team members across the globe to create an environment where all individuals are embraced and diverse perspectives are celebrated and valued.“

To compile the Best Companies for Diversity list, the Black Enterprise research team surveyed more than 1,000 of the largest publicly-traded companies and global corporations with substantial U.S. operations. Companies were assessed on representation of African Americans in senior management and on their board of directors, as well as the percentage of African Americans within their workforce and the procurement dollars spent with African American or ethnic minority group firms.

This honor is the latest on a long list of accolades FedEx has received for fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. In 2017 alone, the company was recognized as a Best Workplace for Diversity by Great Place to Work, a Best Company to Work for by Fortune Magazine, and a Top Corporation for Women Business Enterprises by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. The company was also recognized for achieving a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, designating it as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. And in December, FedEx executives Gloria R. Boyland, Shannon A. Brown and Matthew Thornton III were all named to Black Enterprise’s 2017 List of Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America.
