FedEx Launches The “2019 Small Business Grant Contest” In Mainland China

SHANGHAI, March 18, 2019 – FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, today announced the launch of its 2019 FedEx Small Business Grant Contest in mainland China, giving local small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in mainland China the opportunity to win prizes valued at more than RMB200,000.

The first-ever FedEx Small Business Grant Contest in mainland China was successfully held in 2017. With the upcoming contest, FedEx aims to help more SMEs expand their global footprint and seize international business opportunities by providing them with necessary grants and resources to enable possibilities.

“The vast number of SMEs in mainland China have not only provided local employment opportunities, but have also been instrumental in accelerating the region’s economic growth and development,” said Eddy Chan, senior vice president and head of FedEx China. “Through the contest, we hope to help small businesses cruise through their most challenging growth periods, and take their businesses and vision to the next level with our world-leading resources and network, and create possibilities for them.”

The 2019 FedEx Small Business Grant Contest China is open to SMEs in mainland China. Starting today, until April 21, participants can visit cn.grantcontest.fedex.com to submit relevant information, including company profiles and their business stories. Ten finalists will be announced on the event website on May 6. FedEx will invite the finalists to participate in a pitching event in late May. The first-place prize winner will receive RMB100,000 in cash.

The FedEx Small Business Grant Contest was first launched in 2012 in the U. S. Since then, the contest has expanded to ten markets worldwide, including mainland China, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.

The grand prize winner of the 2017 Small Business Grant Contest China was Shanghai Leverage Supply Chain Management Company, a technical service provider. Since winning the contest, the company has used the grant to internally strengthen its team by initiating projects such as an online training system to increase its quality of service, which in turn has benefitted the firm’s international competency and global outlook.
