SEOUL, Sept. 19, 2011 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, announced today that the company has been selected as official carrier for the 2011 Korea International Art Fair (KIAF) to be held at COEX, Samsung Dong Sept. 22-26.
KIAF has been staged by the Galleries Association of Korea since 2002 and is now recognized as one of the most authoritative art fairs in Asia and the largest in Korea. Approximately 5,000 works of art will be on display from 192 galleries across the globe. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Korea-Australia diplomatic relations, Australia will be participating at the fair with a special display as this year’s honored guest country.
“FedEx Korea is honored to be selected again as the official carrier of KIAF,” said Eun-Mi Chae, managing director of FedEx Korea. “In particular, considering that this year is the 50th anniversary of Korea-Australia diplomatic relations, FedEx recognizes the importance of global networking through cultural exchange. Through our fast and reliable service and strong Asia-Pacific network, FedEx Korea will help ensure KIAF’s success,” Chae added.
As the official carrier of KIAF, FedEx Korea will be in charge of delivering invitation letters, leaflets and catalogues, as well as managing customs clearance.
In conjunction with the Fair, FedEx will also be holding a contest for customers where they can contribute their ideas for the recycling of packing materials and stand to win 100 free tickets to KIAF.
