SEOUL, November 21, 2011— FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, held its inaugural ‘FedEx Career Camp’ supporting career development for Korea’s future leaders with the Partners for the Future Foundation, a subsidiary of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea. Concerned with the current unemployment crisis especially among young professionals, FedEx Korea and the Partners for the Future Foundation initiated this program in order to provide practical assistance to university students on their career path. A three-day career camp was held at Seoul Youth Hotel in Jung-gu with 30 students selected who attend universities outside of Seoul. The event took place on November 18 to 20. At the camp, students enjoyed lectures on key criteria needed to work for a global company such as essential skills and qualifications. They also had a chance to develop an individual career path by engaging in a one-on-one session with an HR specialist, a career planning consultant, among other advisors. FedEx Korea prepared various activities such as a one-on-one résumé clinic, a mock interview session, and group projects. More importantly, participants who were outstanding at the camp were offered an internship at FedEx Korea. Students from 15 universities in Gangwon, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, and Chungnam provinces were given the opportunity to apply for the camp. FedEx held a one-day workshop at Chungnam University in Daejoen and at Pukyong National University in Busan respectively with Eun-Mi Chae, the managing director of FedEx Korea. “A young competent individual is the essential component that will drive a company to thrive. I am sincerely honored to start the ‘FedEx Career Camp,’ and hope this camp can support bright future leaders in the global business market,” said Eun-Mi Chae, managing director of FedEx Korea. “At FedEx, we hope the camp will be helpful for those who attend universities outside of Seoul. They are relatively unexposed to key information that is critical in their career planning.” FedEx Korea has held the ‘FedEx-JA International Trade Challenge’ designed to educate and inspire future players in business for five years. For eight years, FedEx has run the “Walk This Way” campaign; educating traffic safety to protect children. Through such long-term initiatives, FedEx Korea has continuously supported Korea’s future leaders.
