SEOUL, May 14, 2012— Young students with a drive to become successful entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to display their skills and spirit though the ‘2012 FedEx-JA International Trade Challenge.’.
The sixth annual ‘FedEx-JA International Trade Challenge’ aims to give young people a better understanding about global business and trade by providing a chance to develop business ideas and strategies. Throughout the challenge, participating students will be able to foster their entrepreneurial skills and exchange business items ideas with peers.
The program, sponsored by FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and Junior Achievement (JA) Korea, is geared toward high school students in Korea. The kick off ‘International Trade Challenge Workshop’ begins on June 23 and ten teams of two people each will be selected to take part in the local challenge.
The final three teams from Korea will compete with students from eight other countries --Japan, Thailand, Philippine, Hong Kong, Vietnam, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Singapore. The dates for the final round is August 27 to 29 in Hong Kong.
The application for the ‘International Trade Challenge Workshop’ will begin on May 14 and end on June 15. Students wishing to attend the workshop can download an application form from the JA Korea website (www.jakorea.org) and submit it to sale@jakorea.org.

(2012-05-14) 세계 최대의 항공 특송 회사 FedEx 코리아(www.fedex.com/kr, 한국지사장 채은미)가 청소년 경제교육기관인 JA(Junior Achievement) Korea와 함께, 전국 고등학생을 대상으로 ‘2012 FedEx-JA 국제 무역 창업 대회 (2012 FedEx-JA International Trade Challenge)’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
‘FedEx-JA 국제 무역 창업 대회‘는 미래 비즈니스의 주역으로서 글로벌 무대에서 활약을 펼칠 대한민국 청소년들에게 비즈니스 아이템 발굴 및 전략 수립의 기회를 제공하여 기업가적 자질을 키우기 위한 행사로 2007년 시작되어 올해로 6회째를 맞이한다.
이번 행사는 6월 23일 열리는 ‘국제 무역 창업 워크샵‘을 시작으로 1차 서류 심사, 2차 프레젠테이션, 최종 국제 대회 순으로 진행될 예정이다. 워크샵에서 발표된 주제에 대한 에세이를 바탕으로 선발된 총 10개 팀, 20명의 학생들은 7월 27일 국내 예선에서 글로벌 사업 아이템에 대한 프레젠테이션을 진행하게 된다.
국내 예선에서 최종 선발된 최우수 3개 팀은 8월 27일부터 29일까지 홍콩에서 열리는 국제 대회에 참가, 뉴질랜드, 말레이시아, 싱가포르, 일본, 태국, 필리핀, 홍콩, 베트남 등 총 9개 국가에서 참여하는 외국 학생들과 경합을 벌이게 된다.
‘국제 무역 창업 워크샵’ 참가 모집 기간은 오는 5월 14일부터 6월 15일까지이며, JA Korea 홈페이지 (www.jakorea.org)에서 지원서를 다운 받아 이메일(salee@jakorea.org)로 접수하면 된다.
