SEOUL, Feb. 20, 2012—FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, organized a ‘FedEx Bazaar’ at FedEx Gangnam station Feb. 19 to support underprivileged children from rural areas in Vietnam. All profits and unsold items from the event will be donated to ‘FedEx Delivers Heartbeats’, a program that brings mobile medical clinics to remote areas in Vietnam where children have little access to medical services. Items for sale at the bazaar were donated by FedEx employees and included clothes, bags, shoes and toys among others. FedEx volunteers were responsible for organizing and promoting the event as well as taking care of sales on the day. “The FedEx Bazaar is a great example of how we can utilize our global network to not only fulfill our business needs but also to enhance the quality of life for those in local communities,” said Eun Mi Chae, managing director of FedEx Korea. “We will continue to encourage our employees to participate in philanthropic activities that help those who are in need.” Since its initiation in 2011, ‘FedEx Delivers Heartbeats’ has conducted 32 clinics in 21 provinces across Vietnam. The clinics increase early detection of heart conditions in children and train provincial doctors in their diagnosis and treatment. More than 5,500 children have received free health care. Of those, 1,250 were found to have a congenital heart defect, and 909 required an operation.
