Willie Parker, selected by NFL.COM voters as the week 8 FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week, along with employees from FedEx Ground presented a $5,000 check to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Following the check presentation and a special delivery of a new Sony PlayStation by Senior VP and CIO Mike Hmel, Parker visited patients, posing for photos and signing autographs. FedEx Ground employees hosted a Steelers party, which included football-related activities for the children.

Parker, who carried the ball 22 times for 126 yards including one touchdown in the Steelers’ 24 - 13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, was selected from among finalists in the ground category as the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.

Fans voted for more than their favorite players. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for the local community.

Along with the player awards, FedEx awarded Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh a check for $5,000. The children’s hospitals in the two season-long winners markets, announced at Super Bowl XLII in Arizona, will be awarded $25,000 each. That means that FedEx will deliver nearly $250,000 to local children’s hospitals around the country in recognition of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Award winners.
