FedEx Flies Happiness in Boxes to Singapore

SINGAPORE, Sept. 6, 2007 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, will be delivering happiness in the form of books to thousands of teachers in Singapore.

FedEx is collaborating with 2B1 Foundation to fly in 5,000 books from Australian author and “Happiness Guru” Shelley Sykes. These books on happiness, health, relationships and wealth will be flown in from Sydney to be distributed to 5000 educators at the annual motivational seminar for educators organised by the Ministry of Education. The seminar, entitled “Catch the Happiness Bug,” will see Shelley sharing tips and tools on how teachers can achieve a healthy work-life balance, be happy each day and perform at their peak for optimum results.

“Teachers have one of the most important jobs in society, helping to nurture and develop the values and qualities of our youth in today’s fast-paced world,” said Ramesh Kumar Singam, managing director, FedEx Express, Singapore and Indonesia. “We are glad to contribute our logistical expertise towards spreading the Happiness Bug, and giving back to the teaching community in Singapore.”

Author of six books, including “The Happiness Bug” and “Happy Workers, Happy Hive, Happy Customers,” Sykes says that FedEx is the most logical choice when choosing a logistics partner in this program. “I believe that FedEx, with their people-first philosophy, is a fantastic example of Happy Workers, Happy Hive, and Happy Customers. They have proven time and again that if staff is happy, customers get better service and business booms.”

Skyes’ fundamental principles tie in closely with the FedEx People-Service-Profit (PSP) philosophy, based on the premise that if the company takes care of its people, they will take care of its customers, and that will then take care of its profits. FedEx has been consistently ranked as one of Asia’s Top Ten employers, as well as placing on Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list nine years running.
