FedEx Express wins Diversity Award 2006

Brussels, Belgium - March 20, 2006 - FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company, received the Diversity Award 2006 following a comprehensive survey of its staff as part of the Great Place to Work® competition organized by the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. In addition, FedEx Express was rated one of the top 10 best employers in Belgium for the second consecutive year.

“We are honoured to have received the Diversity Award 2006", Robert W. Elliott, FedEx Express EMEA President, said. “FedEx corporate culture has always put people first. We have long recognized that providing a safe and enjoyable workplace, adhering to high ethical standards and building great team spirit among a diverse workforce results in employees with a real sense of pride in their work. That pride, together with a “whatever it takes” attitude enables us to deliver the best possible service to our customers.”

At FedEx Express Belgium, 29 different nationalities are represented in the work force and one out of three managers is female. Additionally in a profession usually held by men, 30% of our FedEx Express couriers are female. These statistics reflect our recruiting policy -- our goal is to attract people with the best skills and knowledge regardless of gender, orientation or background. Human resource policies emphasize personal development for all employees and promotion from within.

“Every employee in our company makes a difference,” Patrick Stienlet, FedEx Express MD Operations Benelux, said. “We value the contributions and perspectives of a diverse work force and we are committed to treating every employee with the same respect and fairness. We are delighted our employees have recognized this by rating us so highly in the Great Place to Work® survey”, Stienlet concluded.
