FedEx Express Pledges Call Centre to Aid Children in Need Donations

COVENTRY, November 16, 2012—For the fourth consecutive year, FedEx Express, an operating company of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), will be donating the services of one of its call centres to help raise money for Children in Need. More than 150 FedEx employees will volunteer their time to staff the Coventry call centre, taking donations and pledges, providing technical support and lending other assistance.

Over the last three years, the FedEx Express call centre in Coventry has taken almost 10,000 calls and more than £330,000 in donations and pledges for the BBC Children in Need Appeal. Despite being one of the best-performing call centres last year, the team—who will be on-hand for more than six hours—is keen to up the stakes and help the telethon beat last year’s total of £26 million raised throughout the night.

“Nights like the BBC Children in Need telethon absolutely bring out the best in people. This will be the fourth year the team here in Coventry have volunteered their time through the night to help give children the childhood they deserve and the enthusiasm is palpable. I could not be more proud,” said Adam Koffler, managing director at FedEx Express, based in Coventry.

Children in Need’s mission is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Its vision is a society where each and every child and young person is supported to realise their potential. This support comes in the form of grants to organisations working with children who have experienced mental, physical or sensory disabilities, have behavioural or psychological disorders, are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or are suffering through distress, abuse or neglect. Last year’s appeal gave £46 million in grants—all companies and agencies taking part provide their services and facilities free of charge enabling every penny donated to go towards projects helping disadvantaged children in the UK.
