FedEx Express Opens New Station in Treviso

MILAN, Italy, April 30, 2012—FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the opening of a new station in Treviso. The station will offer customers located in Treviso and the surrounding area improved access and connectivity to 90 percent of the world’s GDP within one to two business days through the global FedEx Express transportation network.

Treviso Province is an important regional trading center in Italy, driven by key industries such as electronic engineering, fashion and machinery. Home to more than 93,400 businesses, Treviso is the seventh-largest Italian Province in terms of export volume.

Enabling strong trade links to the rest of Europe and international destinations including China, the U.S. and the Russian Federation, this new station will provide customers in the region with greater access to the FedEx Express global network. The station is connected via a road network to the FedEx gateway at Malpensa Airport, which in turn is connected to the European hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle in Paris, France, the gateway to the entire FedEx network.

“Treviso Province is one of the leading edge entrepreneurial districts in Italy. Its competitive advantage is characterized by strong innovation in terms of products and industrial processes towards an increased sustainability and green economy. We are delighted to be growing our presence in this area. This new facility will enable us to offer companies of all sizes a wide range of transportation services as they seek to expand their businesses in Europe and around the globe,” said Renato Carrara, managing director of Operations and general manager, FedEx Express in Italy.

Specifically, the new facility will enable later pick up times, making it easier for companies to take advantage of global markets. For example, companies based in Treviso that need a package delivered to a city on the East Coast of the U.S. by 3 p.m. the next day can tender their shipment as late as 6 p.m. the day before and have it arrive in time.

Recently FedEx Express in Italy has opened new stations in Brescia, Parma-Reggio, Monza-Brianza, Verona and Padua. Today, FedEx Express in Italy is also announcing the opening of two additional stations in Genoa and Alessandria as well as the start of a direct service in Venice. The new stations offer a wide range of FedEx Intra European and Intercontinental transportation services, including:

  • FedEx Express next-business-day deliveries to and from Europe (EuroOne™)
  • FedEx Express next-business-day deliveries by 3 p.m. to U.S. East Coast (FedEx International Priority®)
  • FedEx Express two-business-day deliveries to and from Asia and the rest of the U.S. (FedEx International Priority)
  • FedEx Economy services for less urgent shipments within two to six business days (FedEx International Economy®)

All services are available for heavy shipments over 68 kgs as well as small parcels and documents. The new facility will be located at Via Priula, 78 – 31040 Nervesa della Battaglia (TV). The opening of the new facility will create 9 new jobs for the region.
