Milan, Italy, November 7, 2011 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the opening of a new station in Reggio Emilia. The station will offer customers located in Reggio Emilia, as well as the surrounding Parma Provinces, improved connectivity, reaching 90 percent of the world’s GDP within one-to-two business days through the FedEx Express global transportation network.

The district of Reggio Emilia and Parma Provinces are amongst the most economically developed in all of Italy. Home to more than 106,000 commerical enterprises, Reggio Emilia and the Parma Provinces are industrial powerhouses driven by export-based, international trade in key industries including engineering and electronics, agro-alimentary, fashion, pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

Providing strong trade links to the rest of Europe and international destinations including China, Japan and Brazil, this new station opening provides companies in the region greater access to the entirety of the FedEx Express global network. The station is connected via a road network to the FedEx gateway at Malpensa Airport and in turn to the FedEx European hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle in Paris, France.

“Reggio Emilia and Parma Provinces are high growth, dynamic trading territories, characterized by high per-capita income, a deep-rooted entrepreneurial tradition and high levels of employment which make the area an ideal for companies of all shapes and sizes wishing to expand their businesses in Europe and internationally. The opening of this new facility will enable us to provide our customers with a wide range of time-definite transportation services that will help them take advantage of all the benefits associated with international trade,” said Renato Carrara, Managing Director Operations & General Manager, FedEx Express in Italy.

Specifically, the new facility will enable later pick up times, making it easier for companies to take advantage of global markets. For example, if a company based anywhere in region needs a package delivered to a city in the East Coast of the U.S. by 3 p.m. the next day they can tender their shipment as late as 6.00 p.m. the day before and have it arrive in time.
