FedEx Express Opens a Second Station in the Alsace Region in Mulhouse

Mulhouse, France, 17 November, 2011 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the opening of a new station in Mulhouse, the second station opening in the region after Strasbourg last month. The station will offer local customers, as well as those in the surrounding Alsace region, access and connectivity to 90 percent of the world’s GDP within one to two days. These two new stations created 29 job opportunities in Alsace: 20 in Strasbourg and 9 in Mulhouse.


As one of the most important cities in the Alsace region, Mulhouse possesses an ideal geographic position between French, German and Swiss markets making it an ideal candidate to benefit from greater access to the FedEx Express global network. The station is connected through a road network to the FedEx European hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and to the Basel Airport, where FedEx operates. With 230 foreign companies based in the south of the region, the Haut-Rhin department and the Alsace region is an important centre for industries such as biotechnology, Life Sciences, automotive and transports, food industry, building, mechanic and others.

Nine new team members are already working from the Mulhouse station which has a size of approximately 800 square meters and 8 vans in operation.


Customers will benefit from the wide range of FedEx Intra European and Intercontinental express transportation services, including next business day deliveries and economy services within 2 to 5 days. These services are available for documents and small parcels as well as large shipments of up to 1,000 kg.
