RENNES, France, Feb. 8, 2012—FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the opening of a new station in Rennes The station will offer local customers, as well as those in the surrounding Ille-et-Vilaine region, access and connectivity to 90 percent of the world’s GDP within two days. The station opening will also see the creation of nine jobs for the region.
Rennes, the capital city of the Ille-et-Vilaine department and the historic capital of Brittany, was recognized as the most dynamic city in France in 2010 by L’Express magazine, together with the city of Toulouse. Brittany is an important regional trading center for companies and has around 155,000 industrial, trade and services firms, including 335 foreign companies.
“An emerging, innovative city, Rennes is an active community ideally located in the east side of Brittany with a great transport network. We are excited about growing our presence in the region. This new facility will enable us to offer companies of all sizes a wide range of transportation services as they seek to expand their businesses in Europe and around the globe. For example, a company needing a next-business-day delivery by 3 p.m. to a city in the East Coast of the U.S. can tender their shipment as late as 5.30 p.m. the day before”, said Dirk van Impe, managing director, Operations, FedEx Express France.
Customers in the region will benefit from access to a wide range of FedEx Intra-European and Intercontinental express transportation services, including next-business-day deliveries and economy services within two to five days. These services are available for documents and small parcels as well as large shipments.
The station, approximately 730 square meters in size and with eight vans in operation, employs nine new team members and processed more than 400 shipments during its first two days of operation alone. The station is connected through a road network to the FedEx European hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle.

Customers can pick-up or drop-off their shipment at the station from Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m and last call for shipment pick-up is 5.30 p.m.
