Mexico D.F., November 7, 2008 – As part of the SMB Week (Semana PyME) hosted by the Department of the Treasury, FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company, and the Department of the Treasury announced they will renew their cooperation agreement for the fourth consecutive year, in order to provide free export consulting and drive foreign trade, allowing Mexican small and medium businesses (SMBs) to be competitive in the international markets.
Since 2004, the Department of the Treasury and FedEx Express have offered SMBs the potential to access global markets with their exports and increase their business significantly through the FedEx PyMEx Membership program.
Being part of the FedEx PyMEX Membership program has been the solution for thousands of Mexican SMBs because of the access it offers to FedEx’s technology and operating infrastructure in more than 220 countries and territories. It also provides access to technology tools enabling businesses to prepare and control their export shipments, consulting services to design and certify shipment packaging, consulting services on export/import processes, ongoing update through seminars, and preferential discounts – all at no charge for companies.
In order to recognize the export effort made by companies participating in the FedEx PyMEx Membership program, FedEx Express presented the first FEMA (FedEx Exporters Mexico Award) to three companies that have set themselves apart for their track record and growth in the international trade arena.
This recognition was presented by Eduardo Lopez, Planning and Management Director for FedEx Express, Latin America and Caribbean Division, joined by Lic. Heriberto Felix Guerra, Undersecretary for Small and Medium Business; Dr. Ilda Inukai Sashida, Semana PyME General Coordinator; Lic. Ivan Ornelas Diaz, Representative of the Dirección General Oferta Exportable; Dr. Arturo Molina Gutierrez, General Director of the ITESM Campus Ciudad de México, and Dr. Daniel Moska Arreola, Director of the Business Division at ITESM Campus Ciudad de México. The award recipients are Industria de Corte S.A. de C.V. (INCOR), Becktel S.A. de C.V. and Semillas de Papalotla S.A. de C.V.
Industria de Corte S.A. de C.V. (INCOR) is a leading company in the mechanized metal parts industry that has attained top levels in the Mexican, U.S., Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Ecuador markets.
Semillas de Papalotla S.A. de C.V. is a family-owned business promoting fodder technology for the production, merchandising, training and distribution of seeds. This company has found its market in Mexico, the United States, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Becktel S.A. de C.V. is a Mexican company engaged in the production and export of textiles. It has expanded its market to the United States, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Panama and Colombia.
Also, Arturo Molina Gutierrez, General Director of ITESM Campus Ciudad de México, announced that all companies participating in the FedEx PyMEx Membership program may have access to the services offered by the Monterrey Institute of Technology’s CEDETEC (Centro de Desarrollo Empresarial), which works as business incubator and accelerator.
