FedEx Express Invests In More Services And New Jobs In The Stuttgart Region Of Germany

Improved express services for customers, with later pickup times. Over 30 new jobs created at the Nufringen site. One third of parking spaces will have electric vehicle charging points

Frankfurt am Main/Nufringen, May 5, 2022 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announces the opening of a new facility in Nufringen, Stuttgart region. By relocating from Sindelfingen, the company is expanding its services for customers and offering its team members a more modern and state of the art working environment. Over 30 new jobs will be created.
Customers will benefit from significantly increased capacity with later pickup times of up to two hours. Now, customers can schedule a pickup up until 5 p.m. for next day delivery within Europe.

What’s new in Nufringen
FedEx engaged in the planning of the new building from inception to completion, ensuring cutting-edge operational efficiency. Among other things, the facility includes a fully automated sorting system and the ability to load vehicles directly at the belts, making couriers’ lives much easier. Electric vehicle charging stations are installed in one third of the parking spaces and future plans include a photovoltaic system on the roof to reduce carbon footprint.
75 team members will work at the Nufringen facility. Not all new positions have been filled yet as the company is still recruiting team members, mainly for the warehouse.

  • Total area: 4,800 m2
  • About 75 team members in the future
  • Maximum sorting capacity: 4,500 packages per hour
  • The facility has 14 truck gates for linehaul vehicles and 60 parking spaces for pickup and delivery vans, 20 that are for electric vehicles

The new site in the economic context

The region around Stuttgart is one of Europe’s leading high-tech hubs. Many large, world-renowned companies and successful small and medium-sized enterprises have their headquarters here. The region is a leader in the fields of automotive electronics, information technology and mechanical engineering.[1] “The demand for fast shipping solutions is constantly increasing in these sectors,” says Stefan Dries, FedEx Vice-President Ground Operations Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “With the new site in Nufringen, FedEx will be able to adapt much more effectively to constantly growing customer demand and further expand its services in the region.”
Germany is one of the most important markets in Europe for FedEx. The company offers a broad range of time-definite services such as overnight delivery to the US and within Europe and flexible e-commerce shipping solutions.
