FedEx Express Enhances China-U.S. Connections

Taipei, Nov 9, 2010—FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, has enhanced its connectivity between China and the United States with the launch of two new flight services. The first is a new transpacific flight from Beijing, China to Anchorage, Alaska, with a stop-over in Incheon, South Korea; the second is 777 Freighter (777F) service in China, connecting Shenzhen to FedEx World Hub in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S.A.

The transpacific flight originating in Beijing operates Monday to Saturday, providing greater connections between northern China with the U.S. The Shenzhen-to- Memphis 777F flight replaces the previous Shenzhen-to-Anchorage MD11 flight and will have four flights weekly from Tuesday through Friday.

The launch of both services supports the growing demand for capacity between China and the U.S. In Beijing, the country’s capital and one of the largest cargo gateways in Northern China, the total trade volume between Beijing and the U.S. reached USD 8.89 billion in the first six months in 2010, up 20.4% year-on-year[1]he value of the goods being imported and exported in the region stood at USD 115.5 billion, up 69.9% over the same period last year. In addition, Shenzhen’s trade volume in September 2010 was USD 33.63 billion, registering a 29.7% year-on-year increase for September[2].. T

“FedEx is committed to providing customers with greater access to markets and opportunities in the U.S.,” said David L. Cunningham Jr., president, Asia Pacific, FedEx Express. “China is an important market for FedEx. With these two flight services, FedEx will further strengthen its network connectivity and operations, positioning the company for long-term growth.”

With the launch of the Shenzhen to Memphis 777F service, FedEx has now put into operation four Transpacific 777F services from Asia since the start of 2010. The first 777F service was introduced in January connecting Shanghai with Memphis. The Hong Kong-to-Memphis 777F service was launched in late March, followed by Singapore - Osaka - Memphis in June. The deployment of the 777F, which is more environmentally friendly than most other aircraft, demonstrates FedEx commitment to boosting its network and operations for long-term growth.
