FedEx Express Donates Additional US $90,000 to SOS Children’s Villages

FRANKFURT AM MAIN / BOCKUM, Oct. 28, 2009—SOS-Kinderdorf e. V. and FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the new housekeeping department of SOS-Hof Bockum. The company has supported the project at the SOS Children’s Villages facility, located in Amelinghausen, just south of Hamburg, with a donation of US $90,000.

The new building was required as the existing kitchen and dining rooms no longer offered sufficient space for the increasing numbers of residents and support staff. The SOS Village Community Hof Bockum promotes the social and professional integration of adults with disabilities.

In June this year, SOS-Hof Bockum and FedEx celebrated the opening of a carpenter’s workshop, for which the company had also provided US $90,000. FedEx Express has supported SOS Children’s Villages in Germany since 2005 and has donated a total of US $390,000 to the organization.

“The passionate commitment SOS Children’s Villages shows on behalf of the less able members of our society is impressive and exemplary. Hence, we are very happy to support the organization,” said Bernhard Schloemer, managing director, Operations, Central and Eastern Europe at FedEx Express. “SOS-Hof Bockum is a fantastic example of how professional and social integration can be organized in a practical and down-to-earth way for people with mental disabilities.”

“We are very pleased to have the support of a reliable associate like FedEx Express, with whose help we can take on projects like the carpenter’s workshop the building of a new housekeeping department,” said Manfred Persy, director of SOS-Hof Bockum.

The support given to SOS-Hof Bockum is just one example of FedEx commitment to corporate social responsibility. The company has adopted a wide range of measures which include social as well as environmental initiatives. This approach is described in detail in the “FedEx 2008 Global Citizenship Report”.
