“When customers ship heavy freight around the world they want reliability and access to information, allowing them to meet deadlines, manage budgets or track shipment status,” said Cliff Deeds, Managing Director of Marketing for FedEx Express, Latin America and Caribbean . “With FedEx International Priority Freight services now available in more than 20 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean , businesses across the region have fast access to the global marketplace with the same reliability for their heavyweight shipments as they have come to expect for their documents and smaller packages.”

FedEx International Priority Freight service can handle a wide variety of shipments, ranging from the typical to the unique and unusual. Some of the more noteworthy shipments include a 13-foot tiger shark used in filming the movie “Jaws,” a windmill from Denmark, an eight-ton statue of a war hero, and tour equipment for Michael Jackson and The Rolling Stones.

To benefit from FedEx International Priority Freight Service, customers must schedule deliveries in advance and are subject to a negotiable weight limit of 1,000 kg per package, along with packaging guidelines outlining the need for shrink-wrapped, banded, fork-liftable and stackable packages. Though individual pieces must weigh between 68 kg (150 lbs) and 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs), there is no limit on total shipment weight and regardless of content, FedEx delivers, both throughout the Latin America and Caribbean region and worldwide.
