FedEx Express Continues Growth in Belgium

Brussels, September 5, 2012 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, continues to expand its services in Belgium.

FedEx has recently opened a new station in Tongeren, located in the Limburg province and home to more than 1,686 businesses that rely on an efficient and cost effective means of exporting goods. As Limburg accounts for 11.6 percent of the Flemish region’s exports to Germany, the Netherlands, France, the UK and Italy, this station provides significant benefits for businesses in this area[1].

Additionally, the company has taken over pick-ups and deliveries from local service providers to serve its customers directly and offer them a more seamless experience.

“FedEx works with its customers in Belgium to help them better connect with their own customers across Europe and around the world,” said Patrick Stienlet, managing director, Operations, Benelux, FedEx Express. “Our customers will benefit from improved connectivity and more flexibility through our intra-European next day services.”`

Last year, the company opened a state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly distribution center in Machelen employing 150 team members. This was followed by a new station opening in Nivelles, which is serviced by 18 vans and a 1500 m2 warehouse. More recently, FedEx has added 34 new vans, increasing its national vehicle fleet to 150, and hired more than 40 new team members, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to the Belgian business community.

Since 1985, Brussels has been home to the regional headquarters for EMEA. FedEx Express employs 866 team members in Belgium and recently relocated its Brussels offices to a larger, BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certified[2] building.
