FedEx Express Breaks Ground on Fifth ‘Dream Park Project’ in Korea

SEOUL, March 19, 2013— FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), in conjunction with the Partners for the Future Foundation, a non-profit organization established by The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, launched its fifth ‘Dream Park Project’, which improves the lives of disadvantaged youth by creating or transforming facilities into recreational spaces.

Shinseng Children’s Home, a center for young people in the Gyeonggi-do province of Korea, is the site for this year’s ‘Dream Park Project’. The center was established more than 60 years ago, and its present residents have long expressed a need for some outdoor recreational space. The renovation will take a month to complete and will transform an abandoned space near the center into a safe, eco-friendly, multi-purpose recreational area.

“FedEx is delighted to be launching its fifth ‘Dream Park Project’ where children can nurture hopes and dreams,” said Eun-Mi Chae, managing director of FedEx Express, Korea. “The ‘Dream Park Project’ is part of the FedEx 40th anniversary celebrations this year. The project perfectly represents the FedEx goal of taking an environmentally friendly approach to social responsibility when supporting the communities where we live and work.”

Renovation work at Shinseng Children’s Home began on March 18. In April, FedEx employees and members of the Partner for the Future Foundation will help with some final touch ups to the site and then celebrate the completion of the project with the residents.

Past ‘Dream Park Projects’ included Didimjary, an institution for disabled children aged 6 years and under in Seoul, in 2009; Nam Kwang Orphanage in Busan in 2011; Hahee’s Home, a childcare center in Gyeonggi-do in 2012; and Powha Dream Village, a center for disadvantaged young people in Gyeonggi-do in 2012.
