FedEx Express announces new dedicated Healthcare & Life Sciences Team in Europe

Paris, 14 June 2006 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company today announced the formation of a dedicated Healthcare & Life Sciences sales team. The team will support the company’s growing healthcare and chemical industry client base across Europe.

The healthcare sector is growing rapidly, not only in Europe but also worldwide; the pharmaceutical sector’s global sales forecast indicates an annual growth rate of 6-10%, reaching 600 billion Euros by 2008. The medical technology sector is also predicted to grow 4% per annum and reach 133 billion Euros* by 2008. Against this background FedEx has brought together a European team of ten experienced global sales executives, whose in-depth knowledge will enable FedEx to provide innovative and targeted solutions for existing and potential customers. The team is spread across the healthcare industry’s key markets: Germany, France, UK, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Dominik Schaerer, Senior Manager Global Solutions & Business Development FedEx Express EMEA and head of the healthcare sales team said,

“Healthcare & life sciences organizations have particular requirements for timeliness, reliability and security, as their products impact lives. Often they have other specific needs, such as keeping materials at a certain temperature during transit. Furthermore, healthcare customers have very high expectations in terms of product quality and availability, and as their transportation partner it is our job to ensure these expectations are continually met and exceeded.

Transportation management has become the second most frequently outsourced component of supply chain management, and we are working with our customers to develop strategic transportation and logistics solutions for their business.”

Ingo Ocklenburg, Head of Global Sourcing Logistics Bayer Health Care AG said “We have been working with FedEx for almost ten years. FedEx’s international network and fast connectivity within Europe, and to the US and Asia, helps us to enhance our business, by improving our customers´ competitiveness through lower inventories, reliability and speedy and on time delivery.”

FedEx continues to work with the healthcare industry to tackle these challenges, and currently offers a range of sector specific solutions. The cold chain air solution is often critical when dealing with medicines or supplies. This customized solution means that FedEx couriers check and validate the temperature throughout the delivery process, ensuring safe delivery from pick up to drop off.

In addition, a suite of solutions is available to FedEx customers globally to help them effectively manage their transportation needs. Healthcare & Life Science products require special transportation and handling, and FedEx offers services for any regulated goods. The company can also consolidate multiple international shipments and streamline the customs clearance process to make shipping faster and less cumbersome. FedEx technology also allows customers to view their shipments in motion via the web, ensuring more efficient management of the supply chain.
